Mac doesn't wake up once i've closed the lid?

Once I close the lid on my MacBook Pro MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2012) it doesn't wake up. I have to hold the power button in and re-start the computer.

It's very frustrating and i'm not using my mac often now due to this.

Any help to resolve this issue would be greatly received.

Thanks for that, i tried resetting the SMC and that didn't work unfortunately
